Had the most amazing time with Leonid, our guide, to Lake Baikal. Very well organised and luxurious trip to Olkhon island. Leonid was very informative, polite and friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable through out the trip. He took us to some rare spots around the island from where we got breath taking views of the Lake. Not only this, on our return he even took us to the airport to get back our misplaced baggage (which is a long story) and dropped me and my family back to our apartment hotel. That was not a part of his job but he was kind enough to help us out.

We wish to express our most sincere gratitude for the wonderful tour Alena has shown us around Arshan and Zchemchug. It came as a very pleasant surprise of what we saw, the remnants of a volcanic mountain, the cheerful walk through the bushes, and most amazing of all, the rows of 256 radar (Ssrt). We booked our excursion for Olkhon Island/Lake Baikal with Baikal Explorer for our first stop on our Trans - Siberian journey. The tour company was professional in handling our last minute requests to accomodate our needs. We highly recommend Baikal Explorer for your Olkhon Island/Lake Baikal experience. As for our guide, Max, he is the man. Patient, articulate and has a quirky sense of humor with an artistic eye to boot for your photo oppurtunity needs. Thank you for showing us a piece of Russia even with that little time. Also, thank you for staying awake for that 6 hour ride back home and bringing us back safe to Irkutsk.

Booked this tour 48 hours prior to our arrival in Irkutsk. It was the best thing we have done in 30 days in Russia. Baikal Explorers we're responsive and put together exactly what we wanted. Easy to work with Leonoid from their office. Maxim, our guide, met us at the steps of our railroad car and stayed with us until we were settled in to our Air B&B after our tour. Maxim was a great guide. Great English, he even understood humor. That is the test of true comprehension of another language. My wife has Celiac's Disease and has to maintain a strict Gluten Free diet. Maxim made sure her food was safely prepared for her. We was helpful to a fault, pleasant and knowledgeable. I give Baikal Explorers our highest recommendation.
